Toxic Food That Causes Stress
Stress can be aggravated by various factors. Your physical body reacts to situations that it finds hard to cope even on a mental level. However, there are times when it reacts simply because certain foods naturally wreck havoc. These are typically toxic foods that are best avoided:
Caffeine. Caffeine is well-known as a stimulant. When you are trying to relax, you may be tempted to have a caffeine-boost. However, an addiction can cause you to feel the effects of stress further and put you on an overdrive.
Candy. Candy has never been good for the body because of its high sugar content. Like caffeine, just as quickly as it provides you with the rush of energy, it can also result in a crash shortly after. When the effects from the sugar wear off, you can find that your mood can be irritable from the overwhelming fatigue it brings. It is best to go for sugarless options or treats with a much smaller amount of sugar.
Potato chips. This is another stress-inducing snack item, that I must confess it is hard to give up to. Most potato chips contain a lot of salt, causing dehydration and water retention. The more uncomfortable you start to feel, the more stress starts to come on.
Fast food. This is a no-brainer. Everyone knows how bad fast food is for the body. French fries are usually high in salt and fat. The grease can cause stomach or digestion distress, which will most certainly cause stress in those who end up suffering from it. Limit your intake of fast food as much as possible.
Junk food. Junk food does not have much nutrients to begin with. If you are sustaining your body on junk food, you are doing your body a disservice. When your body does not get enough of the necessary minerals and nutrients it needs, its chances of being able to handle stress are lowered.
If you have always felt stressed, then consider the dietary angle as well. It may just be the food that you are eating that is aggravating your problems in low energy and lethargy.
