What to avoid if you don’t want cancer or other health diseases

We all have a pretty good idea what foods are good for us. Fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, and fish are all healthy choices. Sometimes though, we need to acknowledge our own bad habits and avoid certain foods that are bad for our bodies.
Such unhealthy foods when eaten excessively have been shown to be linked to cancer and other diseases. Here are 5 items that are off the menu if you want to reduce your risk of cancer.
1. Smoked or Barbequed Meat- Yes, it contains carcinogens. One recent study reported that eating more than one serving of processed red meat per day resulted in a much higher risk of cancer, particularly bowel cancer. You may want to substitute fish or chicken for red meat that poses the greatest risk.
2. Sausage and Hot Dogs- Other studies have noted that high consumption of these types of processed meats results in a much higher risk of pancreatic cancer. The high content of salt in these items can also be detrimental to your blood pressure and heart.
3. Salt- A British study of Japanese consumers concluded that a highly salted diet can result in an increased risk of stomach cancer. Limiting your salt intake can help lower your blood pressure and keep your heart healthy.
4. Foods High in Saturated Fats- High fat cheeses, doughnuts, fried foods, potato chips, etc. A diet high in saturated fats has been linked to kidney, bowel, breast and endometrial cancer, as well as heart and cardiovascular disease.
5. Alcohol. Too much alcohol puts you at risk of cancer of the mouth, larynx (voice box), oesophagus (foodpipe), liver, breast and maybe bowel. If you smoke and drink, then your risk level increases. Researchers also estimate that alcohol causes 2000 cases of breast cancer in the UK every year.
No one knows for sure what your health may be in the future, but why not give yourself the best chance possible. If you want improve your chances of not getting cancer, avoid these foods.
